A day with Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant :Buffet Dim Sum

你好?

Nowadays, there are a lot of group buying deals companies in the market. All of them are selling all sorts of deals ranging from F&B to travel to merchandise and so on.

I am one of the “kiasu” fellow purchasing this deals. However, I am really conscious with the company who offers the deal. What to do. Got conned before by this damn Street deal in purchasing a travel voucher to Phuket from this f**king Singapore agency Travelsmoove that went bankruptcy when we are about to redeem the voucher. Total damages up to RM2000 for 4 people.

The great thing is when we confronted Street deal , they said they are not responsible with whatever rubbish they place in their website even the details given by their clients is fake or the company they advertise for is a scammer. Even greater, the so called president/judge for our Tribunal Pengguna (fyi, I did lodge a complaint with Tribunal Pengguna Malaysia) told me , “ why do you choose to purchase online when everybody knows in online, you confirm will get scammed . They are not wrong but you as the consumer should be responsible with your careless. You should be like me, Never purchase anything online“. In my brain, I was thinking: “Err, Mr.President, we are paying your salary to fight for the consumer justice and yet you are telling me this bullshit. You are doing a SUPERB job! Bravo

After this incident, I never purchase anything from Street deal anymore. (fyi, there is also a blog entry to make aware of the terms and conditions they set in their website. HERE)

However, on this one fine day, I came across this great (at that very moment) deals in Groupon which is Dim Sum Buffet and double boiled whole abalone offered by Ah Yat Abalone forum.

Hooray! Ah Yat abalone le! Sorry la. Being a bit of a Kampung Girl and not coming from a wealthy family, Ah Yat Abalone is consider a luxury for me.

So, I immediately purchase this deal for myself and my friend.
We went to redeem this deal immediately on the next day!. Super Kiasee already after the bad experience.

Went there with super excited mood and “tamjiak (greedy)” as well
Reached there.

A bit disappointed with the interior of the restaurant. Not as grand as imagined. Even the hygiene level for this branch is not well kept. You can see a number of flies doing their picnic routine. My friend even saw a fly swimming in her cup of tea.

It’s ok we ignored the ambience and start ordering the Dim Sum.
Although we went with the voucher, they will still charge us with the tea RM2.50/pax and also peanuts RM3 as tea is not included in the deals.
First, we are served with the whole abalone double boiled soup!

Double Boiled Whole "Mini" Abalone

The appearance is not as attractive and appetizing as per illustrated but it’s OK as there is always a fine words below the advertisement stating “All images are for illustration purpose only” so we do not expect the abalone to be as big as our palm with the price we paid.

Luckily, the soup does not disappoint us. The taste is really flavorful. We finished the whole damn soup!

Regretted!

Quarter of the tummy is filled with water and yet there is still 40 varieties of Dim Sum for us to pick.

The Buffet Menu
Never ever order their steamed bun with custard & salted egg or known as “流砂包”. The bun is super stick and the salted egg filling is very sandy and rough and not recommended their fried fish cake, quite oily.

流砂包 with Chocolate flavor Bun. Weird

But, recommended their Prawn Dumpling (蝦餃), Fried Raddish Cake (炒蘿蔔糕) - with shredded dried scallop as the topping), BBQ pork (叉燒), mini egg tart (蛋撻) and Crispy Roasted Pork. However, Crispy Roasted Pork not recommended for people who seldom consume meat as the lard smell is slightly strong but for people who love lard like ME, then you will love it as the skin is super crispy!

Clockwise: Fried Fish Cake, Deep fried Bean Curd wih Prawn, Fried Raddish Cake, Steamed Chicken Claw with Special Sauce, Crispy Roasted Pork and Prawn Dumpling

Clockwise: Baked No.1 Forum Bun with BBQ Pork filling, BBQ Pork, Century Egg with Pork Porridge, Siew Mai, Steamed Bun with custard and salted egg and Mini Egg Tarts

The other selection is just fine, nothing to be “hooha”.
The normal price for the dim sum is slightly expensive ranging from RM9.80 to RM20 plus for the higher range dim sum such as Shark Fin Dumpling and also their Bird Nest Tart.

Might re-visit the outlet if there is 50% promotion on the dim sum but if on normal price, Ah Yat will not be in my dining list for the dim sum la. Dare not comment on the dinner/lunch set as I still do not have the chance to lay my hands on them.
But, thumb up for their service as they assigned a staff to specially cater for our needs and the staff is really alert. Whenever we start looking around, he would come to our table immediately. Most of the staff there are foreigners.

This outlet can be easily find as this building is just directly opposite of Wisma Hong Leong in Jalan Sultan Ismail.

I.myBurgerLab

Hi peeps,

It had been a long time since I last logged in my blog. I have even forgotten my Gmail password.

OMG!

This proven how busy I am lately. Just kidding.

Lately, I had been attending the Registered Financial Planner module 1 in the HQ PJCity. This is a so-called compulsory for me as it is needed for me to continue my insurance selling activity.... Bla bla bla.....

Therefore, it is also an opportunity for me to try out myBurgerLab. I had longed to try the burger as a lot of people are giving good comments for this franchise. Don't believe? Try "google" it. But due to location ( it is in Seapark, I stayed in Klang), so I am lazy but this few days, since I'm already in PJ for training so "ada" Chance to dropby lor.

Anyways, it is closed on Monday so please don't "Gong Gong" come here on Monday.

But, if u happen to be as "Gong Kia" as me to visit here on a fine Monday (the previous time), not to worry, just turn your car to SS2 and visit the SS2 night market instead.

Normally, there is a large crowd lining up in front of this shop even before 5 pm (fyi, myBurgerLab is opened at 5pm).

Lucky me.
Today when I reached, I Q around 10 minutes and it is my turn to order.

There are a lot of college girls/boys working as part timer here. If you are a first timer, the "lengzai/lengluis" here would be happily to assist you in choosing your burger.

As for me, I choose their A+.

A+ is a combination of chicken with lettuces, tomatoes, Cheddar, Caramelized Onions, Shitake & Enoki mushrooms and their so-called secret recipe sauce , all sandwiched between the charcoal bun. Price: RM15. You can choose to add on the fries and bottomless soda for another RM6.

Clockwise: A+ burger, theFries, the condiments and the secret recipe Chilli

According to my companion, the fries and the special custom made chilies taste really good!

My opinion?

Glad that I finally get to "diep" the burger

I really love the charcoal bun as it is crunchy on the outside. Fluffy in the inside.

First bite is always heavenly. The chicken is juicy but they are quite stingy with the cheddar. Only a mild cheesy taste.
Might revisit this outlet to try out on their different menu. Heard from the staff- if I do not listen wrongly, they have a new coffee flavor burger. Wonder how it's taste!

The portion is good for sharing basis between gals only la. Guys, please order one for your own consumption!
